From their marginal position in classical music, percussion instruments came to the fore during the 20th century to take on important tasks in music. The possibilities range from artfully interwoven, sparkling drum rhythms by Iannis Xenakis and distinctive soundscapes by Philip Glass to arrangements and transcriptions of works by J. S. Bach. Schlag 3 features these works with bravura and intensity.
