For over ten years Duo Balcanticum has combined sound worlds between the Balkans and the Baltic, between folk music and classical. With curiosity and joy in experimentation Janis Lielbardis and Dora Scheili juxtapose works which are not usually heard together – from Wilhelm Friedemann Bach to the Estonian composer Ester Mägi, from Joachim Stutschewsky’s new Jewish music to Paul Coletti’s contemporary sounds – a musical journey across spaces, times and cultural boundaries.
