The incomparable sound world of French-Belgian Romantic organ music has at its heart and central point Jacques-Nicolas Lemmens. Born in Antwerp, the organist, educator and composer is regarded as a role model and champion in the history of organ music. His achievements include the revival of tradition through a precise knowledge of the German Baroque, in particular the works of J. S. Bach. The world-famous organ builder Cavaillé-Coll saw in Lemmens the “true modern organist”.
